Rain

Suddenly the age old sky grumbles
and casts a lightining stare.
Elephantine clouds rise and fall
like waves of a typhoon.

Roofs of the houses and streets and roads
turn into favourite picnic spots.
With children romping about and singing
songs and rhymes in gleeful abandon.
Threatening wind.

Banging doors, restless windows
heaps of dust and crackling papers.
And then the marathon powercut.......
when elders talk of bygone days, bygone duststorms
bygone rains and bygone people.

A thunder...and dollops of raindrops fall in an
all embracing frenzy.
